KAREN: an app that psychologically profiles you as you play.

Karen is a life coach who wants to get to know you, perhaps a little bit too much. The more you chat with her, the more personal your experience with her becomes. She seems to know things about you that she shouldn’t.

Where exactly is this going to end?

Our inspiration for this piece came from exploring how apps and data can pave the way for more personal and meaningful experiences: we want to push the boundaries of artistic apps.  We are really fascinated with big data, and particularly how governments and large companies such as Facebook are collecting data on us secretly and using it without our consent.

This is a new work by Blast Theory for 2015, developed in partnership with National Theatre Wales – and you!
