News/October 2018

For one night only, the UK’s first ever interactive feature film will be broadcast live online and at cinemas around Europe.

What is Bloodyminded?

Created by four times BAFTA nominated artists group Blast Theory, Bloodyminded is Europe’s first ever single shot interactive film, shot once and once only and streamed live online and to cinemas across Europe.

Bloodyminded invites audiences to interact; responding to questions directed to them by a narrator who asks us to consider our own relationship with violence – as individuals and as members of a society that continues to wage war on our behalf. Bloodyminded is inspired by the young activists of today and the conscientious objectors of WW1; and created with the help of The Imperial War Museum and the generous support of contemporary ex-servicemen and women. Who are Blast Theory?

We are a group of artists who have been making interactive artworks for more than 25 years. Our work explores the social and political aspects of technology and develops new forms of performance and interactive art. We create conversations between strangers online, on the streets and in museums, theatres and cinemas. Read a bit about our history and our approach here or check out some of our favourite recent projects here.

How is it interactive?

Audiences interact with the film by responding to questions posed directly by the narrator and appearing on screen. Those watching online can type and submit their responses, whilst audiences in the cinema can use a web interface on their mobile phone to do the same. Audience do not change the story; they share their own views and experiences.
