News/October 2016

On the Saturday before Halloween, over the course of nine hours, teenagers in Worcester, Telford and Cannock will take control of their local libraries, and perform live to a worldwide audience online.

Join us online in A Place Free Of Judgement to help the teenagers as they travel from library to library, sneaking in and hiding a story in each one. Three libraries broadcast live online for one night only, creating a global conversation about the power of stories.

The event is a culmination of experiments and discussions from workshops with the teenagers, acclaimed author Tony White and Blast Theory that have taken place over the past four months exploring writing, filmmaking, and what libraries mean to us.

How to take part

Login online

Unfolding over three consecutive libraries, the teenagers will talk to you about personal stories and strange ideas and what they mean to both of you.

Between 3pm and midnight on the 29th October you can log in to watch and interact with the young people on aplacefreeofjudgement.co.uk

We will be live streaming from the three libraries at the following times:

  • Southwater Library, Telford, 3pm – 6pm
  • Cannock, Staffordshire, 6pm – 9pm
  • St John’s Library, Worcester, 9pm – midnight

And why not also tweet us what you think using the hashtag #freeofjudgement

Come to the live event

As the night darkens, a new story by acclaimed author Tony White comes to life with a reading every hour. You can watch these online or join us in person at the following times and locations:

  • Southwater Library, Telford at 3.30pm
  • Cannock Library, Staffordshire at 6.30pm
