Writing from objects – generating titles, descriptions, stories, facts and blended writing

🗓️ 6-8:30pm, Wednesday 22 May

📍 Blast Theory Studio

🎫 Free entry

This Pot Luck is all about how to generate writing through the objects you have around you. You may be surprised at what you make, at what they offer.

Based on an exercise by the wonderful writer Tony White, which he designed for me during Covid, you will walk away with some lovely writing, even if you don’t think you’re a writer.

For this please bring one other person with you to share the pleasure, 12 objects that you find around your house that fit in front of you in a small area on a table, and also something that you use to write with, be that your phone, a pen and piece of paper or laptop. The objects can be anything – man-made, organic, anything that speaks to you and that you like.

And we will look at how to document your process as you go.

Because it’s a Pot Luck please bring some food to share, ideally vegetarian or vegan.

Looking forward to seeing you, email me at [email protected] to save a place.

Warmest wishes

Ju

Aimed at people who are early on in their careers, Pot Luck is a chance to network, make new friends and discuss your work, or an idea for a work. We will offer you support in whatever way we can to help you advance your creative practice and yourself as a maker.

Pot Luck is based on the Potlatch a North American indigenous communal meal or gathering where everyone brings something they can contribute to the meal or to give away.

There will be something to takeaway with opportunities, courses and tools for you to look at later!

Pot Luck is part-funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
