About the Volunteer Programme

Our volunteer programme is an opportunity for those embarking on a career in the arts to have first-hand experience working with an artists company.

Blast Theory is a small team of 11 people who work closely with each other to deliver a wide range of projects in a fast paced environment.  We run two volunteer programmes for three months each.

Our programmes give volunteers the opportunity to work in some of the following areas:

  • Art production and touring
  • Technical development
  • Filming and editing
  • Archiving
  • Creative development
  • Technical and user testing – including preparing equipment and feedback
  • Administration
  • Marketing and publicity
  • Event installation and management

Mentoring and Professional Development

Our Production and Volunteer Coordinator Sarah, manages volunteers and as we are a small team you may have the chance to work closely with other members of staff or the artists, Ju, Matt and Nick.

Blast Theory staff and artists offer experiences tailored to each individuals’ needs – this may include mentoring sessions, providing advice and support with career direction and professional development, close up experiences of working in a professional arts company, learning about editing and video production or talking through one of your own projects, to name but a few.
